1) I read this article in Vanity Fair about teens and social media use last weekend and I have been thinking about it since. I have a niece who is 13 and all of the sites that she could possibly be a part of completely blows my mind. I'm grateful her mom keeps a careful eye on her but how can a parent keep up with all of it? This is a great read if you have, work with, or love a teenager. (In googling this, I am seeing all kinds of backlash against the article so I am going check that out too...)
2) Goal check: September into October. I kind of failed at goals last month. I did really well with eating, working out, and my fitness pal for about half the month til I had a crazy schedule for a week and quit. I'm trying to get back on it, though! I tried BodyPump, so that was new to me, and I still don't have any sodas in the house but oh how I miss them. When does that feeling go away?
3) The Pastry War. Y'all know that I love trying the newest places in Houston, but it's rare I go to a bar because drinking and driving isn't cool. I had plans to meet friends downtown last night for a few hours (see #4 below) so I knew I had plenty of time to metabolize one drink. The Pastry War is a tequila bar. It's really cool inside and the strawberry balsamic margarita was so good. Smooth and sweet without being sugary. I definitely want a reason to go back to this place!
The ceiling has skulls stencilled on it and I was obsessed | yummy margarita \ sweaty selfie (it was SO hot) | VW Bug and parking meter inside.
My card, after I realized I had messed up and was playing wrong | Sarah brought Flat Stanley along and Rachelle and I let him have too much fun, oops | Miranda, Rachelle, Sarah, and me
5) It's birthday month! I'm excited to use that to my advantage as much as possible until the 31st, which is my actual birthday. I keep getting asked to make a birthday list and I have no idea what I want. Help me out - what's on your wish list?
I have no idea what's going on this weekend and I couldn't be more okay with that. Houston is supposed to get a cool front on Saturday night and I think I speak for us all when I say BRING IT. If I can wear a light jacket and have breakfast on a patio Sunday morning, I will be a happy person. Hope you have a great one!
