read this for food pics

You have a lot of recaps to read and my weekend wasn't too special, so let's keep it short and sweet, shall we?

The Indian version of chips and salsa was pretty cool but I hated the dark sauce | Andrew's Biryani - came with a yummy bread dome over it | BodyPump necessities | Love latte art
  • 38/100:  I went to my 38th Restaurant on the Top 100 Restaurants in Houston list. It was an Indian place called the Great W'Kana. I always order Chicken Tikka Masala on my first trip to an Indian place and I feel that the dish was too Americanized to taste like much. Plus the portion was very small for the price. I wasn't feeling great, so I will chalk up my less than stellar thoughts to that as Andrew's Chicken Biryani was much better. (In case you are wondering, Andrew is at 40/100 so I need to catch up with him and work on beating him.)
  • BodyPump: Still good, but I need to push myself more. I wasn't in any pain this week. Noted for next time.
  • Gravity: We were going to see Prisoners but then Andrew read that Gravity was supposed to be pretty good in 3D. Amber tweeted that she was there and also said it was good, so that was enough for me. I am not a movie person but the visuals on this movie alone were fantastic. The story was good and I rarely relaxed through the whole thing. If you see it, spend the money for the 3D!
  • Cool Front: If you follow any other Texas bloggers, I apologize for us losing our minds over the cool front, but it is fantastic. I got to wear a scarf and a cardigan at the same time and I didn't even sweat.
  • Breakfast outside: I wished for it in Friday's post and my husband listened. We went to my favorite coffee shop, Blacksmith, fully intending to sit inside as it was overcast and drizzling. There were tons of people in there, most notably people studying and reading (it was loud - they couldn't have been really getting anything done!) so we had to sit outside to eat. Luckily, the rain stopped long enough to enjoy ourselves.
Other highlights include a productive trip to Trader Joe's (love their pumpkin bread mix!), putting away my Giants t-shirts til next season (0-5, ouch), and Sami herself kicking my butt in fantasy football (I still have a player to play tonight but two of her guys had amazing games so I'm not hopeful). I hope you had a good one!

Linking up with Sami and Leeann!

  1. I can always count on your weekend recaps to have good food pics for me to drool over on Monday mornings! :D I love how you two are so competitive with things. Good luck getting to all 100 on the list!

I'm glad the rain stopped long enough for you to enjoy your breakfast outside! I think I need to stop at Trader Joe's and get some of this pumpkin bread mix you speak of... sounds delicious!

  3. I wonder if there is a top 100 list for Birmingham? I bet it is a top 10 list hahaha. I need to find one and have a new excuse to eat out. You know, like I need to justify it!

  4. This cold front is kind of awesome. I think I forgot what the 50's felt like! Love the latte art! I saw you checked into the gym a few times recently. Good for you! Makes me feel ashamed!

  5. That latte looks amazing! I love the fun designs.

I am kind of scared of seeing Gravity for the reason you mentioned--I'm not sure I will like being stressed out about it the whole time!

  10. Disgusted as F with the humidity in Philly this weekend. If it's not gone by tonight, curtains! So be excited for your cool front. You guys need it.

I must seek out some latte art. My instagram is latte art-less.

  11. As a South Carolinian, I certainly understand the fuss over a cool front. People here start wearing jackets and sweaters when it is 68 degrees.

  14. It looks like you had a really wonderful weekend. Low key, but wonderful. I love food--so any weekend that involves lots of GOOD food is a win in my book! <3 <3

  15. I got a coffee on Saturday night and it had a cute little heart in it. I thought of you and your love for latte art! For some reason, I have no desire to see Gravity. I heard it's like Castaway, only in space and without the volleyball. Not to rub it in, but our Chiefs are 5-0. Ok. Maybe to rub it in a little bit. :)

  16. That's a good idea to make a list of restaurants! There are so many in LA but I always seems to get overwhelmed and choose the same places.

Thanks for linking up for Monday Morning Gossip :)

  19. Your weekend sounded fabulous!

I'd love to eat breakfast outside. I long for a house with a sunroom that I can go and drink my coffee in and do crossword puzzles...

I'm glad you enjoyed Gravity - I want to see it too because the visuals look great on the trailers!

  22. So glad you loved the movie!

I love the idea of going to the top 100 restaurants. I wanna try something fun like that.

Seriously, my mind was blown over the cold front. So exciting.

  23. Sounds like maybe our dinner blate should be a restaurant on the list to help you catch up!

  24. Breakfast outside is the best! There's something European about it. Not that I've been to Europe to know what it's like :) I still have got to try this coffee shop! And are you sure that you weren't sore because you're just that good at it?!
