this should probably embarrass me... but it doesn't

After my confession a few weeks ago that crappy pop music is my guilty pleasure, a lot of you admitted that it's yours, too. In emailing with Steph, she made the comment that a shared love over the same crappy song can bond two people for life. I loved that idea, but why stop at songs? I'm going to confess my love for some things that others may declare awful and who knows, we may just develop ourselves a bond.

Songs (this list could go on forever...)

Sometimes - Britney Spears
(the awful video is still hilarious)
Bye Bye Bye - *NSYNC
Burnin' Up, Year 3000, and We Rock - The Jonas Brothers
Dancing in September - Earth, Wind, and Fire
Has Ace of Base not gotten old to anyone else yet?
Party in the USA - Pre- foam finger Miley (fun fact: I got married when this song was still pretty popular. I wanted it on the "must play" list at the wedding and Andrew wanted it on the "do not play" list so we agreed that we just wouldn't bring it up. Well, at the wedding and after some wine I wanted to dance so I asked the DJ to play it. He didn't want to because honestly, he was killing it with the music and it didn't fit but since it was my wedding, he knew he had to. He introduced the song by saying "This one is on at the bride's request..." Before I knew it Andrew was at my side saying "You promised..." but I already had my hands up and was nodding my head like yeah.)

You know you do this when you think of the song, too.

Food

Velveeta
. I know it's not real cheese and probably closer to plastic than actual food but I kind of secretly love it.
Sweet Wine and Sugary Coffee. I say I love wine and coffee. And I do. As long as it's a super sweet wine and an extra sugary coffee. You can keep your Pinot Noir and your Americanos; I'm good with Moscato and Macchiatos.
Cocoa Almond Spread. If you haven't had this deliciousness from Trader Joe's, then you are missing out. I may eat it out of the jar by the spoonful.

Clothes

Soffe Shorts. I am too old and they are too short but they have been my favorite PJ shorts for over ten years and if only Andrew and the guy who works at the donut shop ever see me in them, it doesn't really count, does it?

Movies

Enchanted. I love this movie. If it's on, I'm watching it, pretty much guaranteed. And singing along.
Awful Teen Movies from the late 90s - early 00s. I just watched She's All That this weekend. I can probably still recite 10 Things I Hate About You. Basically if it's a movie that I saw in or before high school that gave me a completely unrealistic expectation of what high school would be, I still want to watch it.
Josie and the Pussycats. I still love this movie but I haven't seen it in years. On one of mine and Andrew's first dates, we went to Best Buy and he saw me looking at this CD so he bought it for me and then basically teased me for wanting it in the first place. But have you heard the soundtrack? It's still so fun!

Okay, I shared. Now you tell me something that you think should embarrass you but doesn't.

  3. I think you just get me. Can we have a slumber party in our soffe shorts, dance to NSYNC and watch 10 Things I Hate About You. I promise I will not double dip my spoon in the Nutella and I will bring the sugar and creamer for our coffee! PS- I secretly love the movie Hop and if you haven't seen it, then you don't know where jelly beans come from, and that makes me sad panda.

  5. Well we were obviously meant to be soulmates. Party in the USA was the official song of my 23(?)rd birthday, I LOVE September by Earth Wind and Fire, we got married on the 22nd so I was all, "yeah I remember yesterday!!" Haha! And I need that cocoa almond butter immediately. My favorite scene in 10TIHAY is when Julia Stiles dances on the table to "Hypnotize"...I seriously thought high school parties were gonna be so cool! The only thing I have to shut down is the sweet wine, it's just never been for me!

  7. I'm with Sara. We were meant to be BFFs. I love me some sweet wine and coffee, although I have gotten into the dry reds. Never black coffee though. That is never going to happen. September by EWF is amazing and so is 10 Things I Hate About You.

I went to a Celine Dion concert in Las Vegas while on spring break and I loved it. I don't even like Celine, but the concert was amazing.

  11. I love Moscato!! Gone by N'Sync was my favorite song though. I think I gained 10 pounds in college from Velveeta Shells and cheese. Too good! I totally have the movie Teen Witch on VHS!! Top That, I did give a ugh about that! *Shame*

  12. I still have all my VHS tapes of those cheesy teen 90's movies ... and some I even bought the dvd for too. They'll always have a special place in my heart. And I love Ace of Base. The Sign came on the radio the other day and I belted out singing... I was surprised I still knew all the words! :)

  17. Ok, I totally agree with you on most everything here, except that I've never tried cocoa almond spread! BRB, going to Trader Joe's...

Also, I recently watch 10 Things after having not seeing it for a good five years or so, and it was kind of embarrassing that I remembered every line (including lyrics to all the songs)!

I am pretty much obsessed with all teen movies from 95ish-00ish. Clueless, 10 Things, Can't Hardly Wait, She's All That, Reality Bites (ok they aren't teens, but still!), the list goes on...

And yes, even this fashionista rocks soffe shorts to bed.

  18. OMG Love that Britney song! During cheerleading practice in high school we taught ourselves the dance routine she does in the video! And that Miley song is awesome! Soffe shorts are best to wear when walking the dogs. Mine are just as old as yours, they are from college in 2002! LOL Clearly they're a quality product! Did you ever watch the movie "Never Been Kissed"?? That's probably my fave :)

  19. VELVETTA! I am not ashamed to admit that I lived off of Shells & Cheese in grad school, and I've been known to eat the family-size box in its entirety for dinner.

  20. My current running music is the Spice Girls Pandora station and it has all of those awesome jams! I miss you friend! Coffee soon?

  21. Ace of Base is still cool to me! I will eat a whole block of velveeta if it's in the house. So gross but so good!!
