five things making me happy right now

After being real and vulnerable on yesterday's post, I feel like being light and happy today. So how about a little refocus onto five things making me really happy right now:

1) Cold weather is hot chocolate weather. Temperatures have been freezing or below every night this week and my hands and feet are never warm. Not like I need an excuse to drink hot chocolate, but being in the mood for it makes it extra delicious.

2) Shameless. Please tell me someone else watches this show? It is completely hilarious and completely offensive to everyone and about everything. This season, they have found a way to make incest funny. I know it sounds terrible, and finding a gif without bad words was hard work, but I am so glad it's back (and that we're paying for Showtime right now and can watch it). If you aren't offended by much at all really, you should give it a try.

3) Football Season is Over! I don't mind football season (when the Giants aren't awful), but I am always glad when it's over. We can go to brunch again! I can sleep in and we can go to the grocery store when we want rather than scrambling to be back by noon! No more Thursday night and Monday nights with football - we can watch our shows! It's a little thing but I like it!

4) Being busy at work. This semester has been a little slow-going, event-wise. This week though, it was like everyone remembered that I exist and could help them. So I have gotten to do what I'm mostly good at. It's nice to be productive.

5) The Olympic Opening Ceremonies. I am so ready for them. They will either be amazing or a huge failure... I am kind of thinking the latter has a good shot. I may not be home to see them, but thank goodness for twitter and youtube - they will provide everything I need to know.

See More Good: A man here in Houston paid the account balances for over 60 kids' school lunches so they could eat a hot meal, rather than the cheese sandwich being given to them since they had delinquent accounts. No matter what mistakes the parents have made, elementary school kids shouldn't have to go without food. What a nice man.

So I really want to know - what's making you happy this week?

  2. Hot chocolate...mmmmmm. I am with Kathy, I have been doing green tea every day at work....but I whip out that hot chocolate on weekend nights when I can enjoy it while being lazy on the couch!

I have never heard of Shameless. What is the show about? I could get down with some funny stuff.

  3. I love that guy for paying those school kids' balances. What has been happening to kids lately with overdue lunch money has gotten out of control, I mean tossing out their lunches in front of everybody? That is scarring and completely inappropriate! Rant over haha have a good weekend!

  4. A girl after my own heart! Tonight's agenda: crock-pot hot chocolate and Olympics. Much to my hubby's dismay. :) Have a good weekend!

  5. I'm so excited for the olympic ceremony. Ive been reading so much stuff about how awful Sochi is so I'm pretty curious how that is gonna go down. Yes I am done with the cold weather but hot drinks taste even better right now. But so does ice cream :P

  6. MFD posted about that man on FB yesterday. I am so sad that they needed to be paid for but it's seriously awesome.

We watched the first season of Shameless then forgot about it. I may have to revisit it.

I hope I'm home for the start of the Olympic Ceremony.

  7. Okay your "see more good" made me tear up. I swear I'm not hormonal, but that just struck a chord with me and makes my heart so happy. There are such good people in this world.

And YAY for hot chocolate weather for you! I've had a mug almost nightly--choosing it more recently over wine (shocker). I wish I could share in your joy over football season being over but I still don't remember what my husband looks like--so I don't think the "season" being over matters much in this house. <3

  9. See, I am totally bummed about the olympics. I just can't get into sports and there will be no good TV for the entire month!!! BOO. Go USA, I guess. At least Michelle is letting me borrow her Big Bang Theory DVD's so that's what I'll stay busy with.

  10. My hubby started watching Shameless and when I'm around I gladly watch it with him. It's funny. I love the wrong and inappropriate shows, they are the best! I'd like to know why the Mindy Project decided to take a mid-season break...that does not make me happy!

  11. Hooray for being busy at work! I hate when I'm unproductive, whether that means I have little to do, I'm having an off day, or I have stuff to do and I have to wait on people!

  12. Stories about schools punishing kids for delinquent lunch accounts piss me off. I'm glad there are still nice people in the world willing to help!

I'm thinking opening ceremonies are going to be a disaster in some way, it seems like everything else Olympic related has been a nightmare so far.

  14. I've had to quit drinking hot chocolate. I keep getting sick after I drink it here lately... and I'm hoping all that changes after little miss is born. I love football, but I do feel like I need a break from it every once in a while. But, bring on SEC football any time. I'm ready! I'm not sure how I feel about the Olympics. I love figure skating, and bob sledding. I think the news of where it's being held and all the drama has me turned off this year. So... I guess we will see if I tune in or not. I mean, I am home all day. Ha! Happy Friday, and thanks for linking up today. Y'all have a wonderful weekend!!!

  15. Living in the SOUTH, Alabama, mind you--- I am clinically depressed without football. Glad to know we are in the same boat . Never heard of shameless. But I find offensive awkwardly hilarious! :) Have a good weekend!

  16. I totally agree with your number 3. You KNOW I love me some football, but that means the weekends are all planned for about 6 months. Now that it's over we're back to our DIY projects, and I forgot how much I missed the weekends away from the TV!
    Happy Friday girl!

  22. I hate football, so I am not affected by it ending. I've actually surprised myself. I usually am a hot chocolate addict, and I've think I've had 3 since last October. I did find a fun looking frozen hot chocolate. That doesn't sound right. But basically a blended hot chocolate. Anyway - never heard of Shameless. Looks interesting. Sounds like a good show to binge watch! I hope y'all have a a good weekend!

  29. OMG all the food in this post looks amazing! I love food trucks. I told Josh so many times in college that I was going to drop out and run a food truck, then he would remind me that I can't cook (so I finished my degree, ha!)

  30. Wow, I totally missed the story about the man paying the lunch accounts, but that is so incredible! That warms my heart, man!
