another five on friday

It was a short week, a long weekend, and I have no photos to share with you but here are five things nonetheless.

1) There are a lot of things to complain about when you work for a higher education non-profit, but getting a few extra days off thrown your way during student spring break isn't one of them. I always look forward to a four day weekend for no reason. But, don't hate me too much - I don't get any extra time off for Easter, so it kind of balances out.

2) Blogs get quiet on Thursday which is totally cool because everyone needs a day off and when everyone takes one at once, no one has to feel like they're missing out. Question for you, though: do you ignore blogs completely and mark as read, read but don't comment, or read and comment but don't post? I'm just wondering. I mean if I have what I think is an awesome post idea, I may not post it on a Thursday just so I can make sure people see it.

3) I felt like such a blogger this weekend because I had third day dirty hair that I wore in a bun high my head - I believe pinterest calls that a top knot? Whatever, it hid my grossness and if the internet says that's a cute look, then sign me up! Lazy always wins.

4) Since revamping the living room (thanks for your sweet comments!), I have wanted the rest of the house to feel better. I spent a lot of time Thursday cleaning out closets and rearranging things. The things that I have hoarded away are a little ridiculous. Do you have any idea how many leftover candles and candle holders I still have from my wedding? And the number of candles I bought at Bath & Body Works over the summer is criminal. I purged a good amount of stuff and organized the rest and it feels SO good - and that is a big deal coming from someone who would usually prefer to ignore a mess than deal with it!

5) My husband started a blog! It's about Houston and food, naturally. He wants to be fairly anonymous so he asked me not to link back to him but I wanted to talk about it anyway. Finally, he understands my crazy. He understands the "How do I make people read this thing?" feelings and the happiness when someone who is a big deal talks to you on twitter. It makes me laugh because I can tell how crazy I have sounded to him for the past year. He barely started it, though, and has already gotten invited to a food event... with a plus one, of course! Unfortunately it's during the day on a week day and in Galveston so neither of us could go but still... I was impressed!

That's about it. I have a few things lined up for this weekend but if I blogged about them now, what would we talk about next week? Also I am having fun with this snapchat business and if we aren't friends, we should be - eatdrinklauren.

  4. I didn't realize Thursday off was a thing until this week and I'm down with it. I do still read and comment, I'm just not writing if I don't post.

I love that you can share blogging with your husband, I think he secretly thought all your craziness was fun and that's why he joined. :)

  6. I sometimes take Wednesday off since that works better for me but I still read as normal. I love 3rd day hair! So cool he started a blog and can understand the blog speak, and bonus for getting invites to food events!

  7. I still read my "daily reads" during the week even if I don't post. (You're one of them...duh!) But other than that I will skim through and see if anything looks super interesting then mark the rest as read.

How awesome your husband started a blog! Chris has joked around a few times about he wanted to start one but I don't know if he will or not...he is REALLY busy at work all the time and he does computers for a living so I think he likes a break during the week from them at home.

I can still hate on you for your four day weekend because I dont get one now or extra time around Easter. UGHHH when is the next real holiday?!?!

Hope you have a great weekend!!

  10. Way to go Hubby! How fun! A couple that blogs together, stays together! As for Thursday blogs...if I am close to the person, I will always go back and read any post I missed (Or try too), and comment. Some others I will skip, or maybe read if the title sounds fun! Happy Friday!!

  12. I always post on Thursdays! (I didn't this week because I was a day late posting, but whatevs). I didn't know people didn't post on Thursdays. How strange. I honestly have no clue which people post on what days because they all stack up in my BL feed and I get to them when I get to them. I wonder if I would do better on a more structured reading schedule like everyone else?? Hmmm...

  13. It's the best how getting one house project done motivates you to keep going. Momentum! Also, how exciting for Andrew! I hope you guys get invited to more events that you can actually go to. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!

  15. The hair part made me laugh. I always wondered how girls could pull off the cute messy hair & sweats to class look in college while I just looked like a bum. That's so exciting that he's already getting invited to events!

  16. I try to at least read all of my favorite blogs, even when I cannot comment.

  17. I still read blogs daily even if I don't post on my own. I've slacked a little lately in commenting on a lot of them tho. I've been going crazy with organizing too! This week I finally organized under our sink and threw out so much expired stuff or stuff we just don't use. I also have a donation box I've been adding too. It feels so good to clear it all out!

  18. I don't always blog on Wednesday or Thursday- usually one or the other- but I always read and/or comment. My usual, just without my own post.

  19. So awesome that your husband is blogging. I have been telling Josh he needs to start one. When I am really focusing on blogging I post Monday-Friday and take Saturday and Sunday off. I like to comment on as many people as I can Monday-Friday, but Saturday and Sunday I don't even look the way of my blog or others. If I read a blog I also comment no matter what! I had never heard of second or third day hair before blogging/youtube and it is trouble, because now I know so many ways to get away with it!

  20. I always am reading blogs even if I am not posting myself or commenting. Which I need to work on both. Jealous of living room sprucing up, I have been itching to so the same. Very cool for your hubby, he was so witty and into the BE twitter games I have no doubt he will have social media eating out of the palm of his hands and lots more invites to come! Enjoy the rest of your weekend

  21. That is so cool your husband started a blog!! Hopefully, you can share it sometime...though I don't live in Houston but it still seems neat! I have no reading schedule at all and didn't realize this no post Thursday thing was a thing :)That is awesome you have been motivated to get your house in order!

  22. I read blogs every day. If you're on my bloglovin, I read every post, though I don't always comment. When I do take a day off posting, it's a Wednesday.
Aw that's so cool about your husband's blog! Fun!

  23. I didn't realize taking Thursdays off was a thing, but it was interesting to read everyone's thoughts.

I like comments and read them all but I'm not great about responding to them, so please don't be offended. I would much rather visit your blog instead!
