a few friday favorites

It's been a busy work week! I had a long day yesterday, in heels no less, so I am hoping today will fly by because I have a happy hour double date planned and I am super excited. I thought I would mix it up a little this week and share five of my favorite things.

I took this pic at the event I worked last night in my dean's building. Not too shabby of a view (that's Discovery Green Park and the Convention Center)

Favorite Find:

I've been using Suave Dry Shampoo (the one in the gold can) for over a year because I read it was good on a blog. It was fine. Lately, though, I've seen more and more about Not Your Mother's Clean Freak Dry Shampoo so I decided to spend $2 more (it was still less than $5 at Walmart) and give it a try and I love it. It doesn't make my hair feel hard like the Suave stuff did and my hair looks much better at the end of day two. Let me know if you try it out!

Favorite Freebie:

Administrative Professionals' Day was this week. I plan a celebration at my school for the entire staff, and this year we had an ice cream cart, mini cupcakes, fruit, coffee, and candy everywhere with bags to take back to your desk. I am sugar-ed out but I have candy at my desk to last me a week or more. I also made candy bouquets (using this tutorial I posted last year) but forgot to take pics, but they were pretty cute!

Favorite Guilty Pleasure:

So I used to watch 16 17 18 19 Kids and Counting and then I couldn't handle the crazy train anymore so I stopped. But now that Jessa is courting and Jill is engaged, I am sucked right back in. Please tell me I'm not alone and that I can discuss Duggar conspiracy theories with someone? Also I think Jessa has amazing hair. Must be the nutrients in tater tot casserole that gives it all that body.

Favorite Discovery:

(I guess a find and a discovery are the same thing, but my blog, my rules!) I finally set up a Comedy Station on Pandora and it makes enduring Houston traffic so much better. (Lewis Black, Aziz Ansari, Chris Rock, and Mitch Hedberg are on mine... I'm not cool enough for any non-mainstream comedians).

Favorite Read:

I saw someone tweet this and it's worth a quick read. No matter what you do, you're doing it wrong, am I right? Has anyone else had these thoughts about themselves and perhaps other bloggers? The point is we all have our own opinions and we can't make everyone happy so just keep on doing your thing. But she said it better and more more truthfully.

Linking up with Amanda and for Five on Friday!

  7. Administrative Professionals' Day sounds like a blast, I bet everyone loved it! Loved the "Dear Blogger" post! Just say no to the Duggar's- just no! :) Happy Friday!

  8. I was using Suave and switched to Not Your Mother's a few weeks ago, I totally agree with you....it is better in that it doesn't make your hair hard! That and I think the smell is a little less powerful which I like.

I used to watch the Duggars when there was like 18 or something and I quit. I am pretty sure Chris wouldn't be on board with that show and I already have a few guilty pleasures that I try to sneak when he isn't around so I probably won't be picking that back up. If you want to talk Kardashians or the Chrisley's let me know lol.

  9. Loved that blog post and the other one she linked to about parenting. It is so hard to give up the idea that we can't make everyone happy. I saw a quote somewhere along the lines of "you might be the sweetest juiciest peach in the room, but there will always be someone who hates peaches" or something like that. So true.

  10. I can't get enough of the Duggars! I stopped and started back up again this season. It's madness! So. Many. Kids. And seriously, HOW do I get hair like Jessa's?! Also, that's the dry shampoo and it's my favorite out of all I've tried! (And I feel like I've tried them all...)

  11. I use Redken dry shampoo and love it but don't love the price tag. I've heard so much about that one so I definitely need to grab it the next time I'm at Target. Thanks so much for linking up!!!! xoxoxoxo

  20. I love Not Your Mother's products. Their beach spray is to DIE for!!! I'm gonna have to give their dry shampoo a go... still trying to find my holy grail when it comes to that.

  21. I never even thought to set up a comedy Pandora station!! I have the Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo. It's a lot better than the cheapo brand I bought a few years ago.

  22. I love that dry shampoo! And I haven't watched [however many] and counting for awhile...I was always offended that they chose my sister's J name (Jessa) and didn't use mine...Jayda is a much more common name! The tater tot hair analogy made me laugh.

  23. I, too, love the Duggars. I cut the cable cord at the beginning of the year, but I broke down and order the new season of the Duggars on Amazon so I could keep up with the new episodes.

  24. I'm totally in the same boat with the Duggars. I used to be bizarrely fascinated by them, then bored, and now the courtships have sucked me in once again! Now that Jessa and Jill have started down the courtship path, who do you think will be next?

  25. I do not watch the Duggar's BUT I seriously wonder how mommy of 19 doesn't have 17 dead kids. I want to strangle my one most days. :)

I like comments and read them all but I'm not great about responding to them, so please don't be offended. I would much rather visit your blog instead!
